Yummy Yogi Fritters

I made these baked broccoli fritters with a delicious spicy avocado dip for friends at the weekend…Roxy seems to love them too! The recipe is from the Hemsley and Hemsley book. I highly recommend it – it is bursting with fabulously healthy recipe ideas!

Pose of the Month: Side Plank

Vasisthasana (Pronounced: vah-sish-TAHS-anna)

Vasistha literally means “most excellent, best, richest.”

The side plank is a great pose for strengthening and toning the arms, core and legs. It also tests your balance helping to improve focus and concentration.

Pose of the Month: The Lotus

Pronounced : Pa-dah-maa-sun-aa

Padma = Lotus, asana = posture or pose

This month’s pose is the Lotus or Padmasana. It is a cross-legged yoga posture which helps deepen meditation by calming the mind and alleviating various physical ailments. Regularly practicing this posture helps in the overall blossoming of your mind, body and spirit, hence the name Lotus.

Pose of the month…Downward-Facing Dog

One of the most commonly recognised yoga poses and one we use a lot in Power Yoga is the Downward-Facing Dog — Adho Mukha Svanasana (Ah-doh MOO-kuh shvan-AHS-uh-nuh).

This is a beautiful standing pose with mild inversion that stretches the entire body while building strength. Dogs naturally do this stretch which is where the pose got its name.

Wickedly wonderful watercress soup!

I just love cooking with watercress – it is a fabulous super food bursting with goodness and nutritious benefits. It is also fantastic to eat before doing any exercise as it is full of iron that gives your body more energy and it will help combat any free radicals produced thanks to its high antioxidant powers. The perfect food for yogis!

Here is a delicious watercress soup with brazil nut cream recipe that I found in the fab cook book by Hemsley & Hemsley. As you can see, Roxy absolutely loves this recipe too!

Pose of the month…Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II)

Warrior II — Virabhadrasana II

Pronounced: veer-uh-buh-DRAHS-uh-nuh

This is a standing yoga pose that enhances strength, stability, and concentration. It’s named after the Hindu mythological warrior, Virabhadra, an incarnation of the god Shiva. Virabhadra was a tall, dark, and fierce deity, depicted with a thousand arms, flaming hair and eyes, and wearing a garland of skulls.

My Yummy Yogi Pancake Recipe

It is pancake day nearly everyday in my family, we love them!!

As the years have gone by this recipe has evolved and is now so deliciously healthy I want to eat them all day and sometimes do. I am really excited to share this with you as it is such a nutritiously, delicious way to start your day.

If you are just making pancakes for 2/3 people then the quantities below are enough. I always double the mixture and that way my family of 5 can have 2 big pancakes each which completely fills their boots for the day and I tend to have a little left over for a savoury one later for Roxy (me!)
