Just back from London after an inspiring yoga master class with Brooke Hamblet a senior Baptiste Teacher from the US. I trained with her in Hawaii so it was wonderful to see her again. Lots of sweat and breathing! An amazing practice – feeling lighter and brighter.
I just love Deliciously Ella’s new cookbook – we can’t get enough of all her amazingly healthy and delicious recipes. Last weekend I prepared this simple but scrummy soup for a dinner party and it went down a storm. It is so important to eat healthily this time of year to keep your blood rich and energy levels high and this lovely thick, warming soup is just ideal.
I have just discovered a fabulous new tonic – fennel with hot water. It is great for digestion and makes a change from mint tea. Super easy to make and the ultimate digestive tonic, simply chop up some fennel and add it to a mug of hot water to enjoy after eating.
Health benefits of fennel:
Ustra = Camel, asana = posture or pose
Pronounced : OOHS-tra-AA-SUN-aa
An intermediate back-bending posture, the Ustrasana will add strength and flexibility to your body while benefitting your back. Known to open Anahata (heart chakra) the pose is great if you are feeling low or tired as it will help you de-stress and relax the mind. It is also thought that the camel pose will improve digestion and overcome menstrual discomfort.
Thank you so much to everyone that came along to our Detox Weekend last week. It started with our first yoga practice of the year at Southend Barns on Friday morning and then 30 of us went on to collect our 4 health juices from The Blacksmiths pub. Packed full of vegetables and fruits, the juices were our meal replacements for the day to give us a total detox after an invigorating yoga session. I don’t know about everyone else but I woke up feeling fabulous the next morning!
Our Fantastic Fridays just got better! The Blacksmiths pub in Donnington are now going to be doing freshly prepared juices every Friday after our yoga practice. Each week the juices will be jam packed full of super healthy foods to help you feel energised after a long week at work! To pre-order your juice please call 01243 785578 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Friday sessions take place at Southend Barns (just half a mile up the road from the pub) from 9-10am. Click here to see the full class timetable.
Sunflower bread lightly toasted, crush the avocado on top, layer on smoked salmon with a squeeze of lemon and black pepper, scrambled eggs on top and shiitake mushrooms that I fried in balsamic – delicious!
Load it all up and enjoy with hot water and lemon with some honey.
